Leader as Coach

About Course

Today’s ever-changing business landscapes call for organisations that build teams with both the dynamic capability and the mental readiness for adapting to changes quickly. A ‘Leader As Coach’ cultivates a coaching mindset of participation, collaboration, and non-violent communication that actively nurtures creative confidence - the driver of all innovation.

Tomorrow’s successful leaders need to add a dimension of coaching today to accompany their people in finding resources within themselves in a judgement-free environment so they can unlock their own potential to maximise overall performance. When managers become coaches, rather than bosses, they transform into leaders who bring out the best in every team member.

How it works?

With a specific theme each, the first three modular sessions build up your competences and confidence in having solid coaching conversations. In small breakout groups, you practice the use of the newly learned concepts and tools with an emphasis on identifying resources for finding solutions to actual workrelated challenges. The final session brings it all together with its focus on team coaching and action planning for high-performance teams.

What is covered?

Its modular nature makes the programme a step-by-step learning journey, as you explore new concepts and frameworks, and add a coaching roadmap to your toolkit. Putting these into practice immediately turns them into memorable experiences you can draw on in daily work situations. A selection of coaching tools will help you unearth the values and identities of team members and pave the way for finding resources and identifying solution-focused actions forward. The key areas covered in each module are:

How is your progress measured?

In between each module, you will be using a specific tool in a real coaching session with a coachee of your choice. At the next group session, you will exchange your coaching experiences and receive formative feedback. Within 2 months after the final module, you will submit a progress snapshot in the form of a video with supporting evidence of a team coaching session you conducted with your team. During this period, you have check-in sessions for ongoing support and coaching circles with your group members. And upon completion, you will have a review session to determine the impact of the programme and how you will implement the learnings in your professional life.
